Attic Room

Hey guys

I haven't posted any entries with drawings I've been doing for my work. So here goes.

This is an addition to an existing house (the house was constructed about three years ago by us as well) located in Cape Town, with a view of Lion's head. What I designed is an attic room accessed from the existing study, using a spiral staircase. It's partially double volume so you can see a bit of the study from the attic room.

The intention of the attic room was to use it as a new study, there are rooflights supplied from a local manufacturer for ventilation and etc.

I also designed a covered link just by the entrance of the house in ground floor.

Kitchen Drawings

Hey guys

FIFA World Cup is on!
Last night's opening match was not spectacular at all. Come on, the opening goal was an own goal!
So yeah the ceremony didn't amaze everyone, choreography was okay but theme?meh. Look at South Africa's opening ceremony ( can't believe it was four years ago) and you could see the spirit, soul and the support of the crowds while yesterday people were posing for selfies. We even had a dung beetle set and what did Brazil had? Pitbull's non-outstanding white pants.

Glad there was no vuvuzela though, but it felt too quiet.

So this week I had a chance in hand to design some stuff and I'll just show you some kitchen layouts.

Random House Review #1- Africa

Howzit

It's been quite a long time (actually weeks) since I posted some drawings on the blog, I think it was because people wanted to spend their Friday afternoon snuggling in their bed trying to hibernate from the cold winter. For the past week hail (yes hail,not snow) has been hailing down the cape which was unpleasant, for working people and even kids, as they realized hailmen does not look as cool as snowmen.

Like last year, people has been posting the 'White Cape' around the internet, seriously people, hail is not snow, if hail was snow, then kids would be running around this field which was taken Monday yesterday (photo courtesy of Life is Savage) throwing snowballs at each other.

But no, they stayed indoors.

So just now I was checking my views statistics and wow I just want to have a minute of thanks for the people who have time to read my blog.

I'll be posting this Friday but for now I decided to do something weird and new: I'll be doing a casual random house review every week or so. I would just google image 'house in so and so' click the image I find interesting, research the name and overview and do a review. I'll be doing from every continent so this one will be in Africa. Here.Here we go

House Wright

Well, I did not want to post a review of a mud hut after seeing one whole page of it ( I could, but I decided not to) so I chose this significantly modern and vernacular house instead.

Just stop what you are doing and take a minute to praise on such a beautiful home. The idea of renovating a simple locally thatched house to an exquisite modern thatched house is just wonderful!

The smooth lines really captures the surrounding landscape, creating a peaceful synergy with the b-e-a-utiful views outside. Drinking a cup of rooibos with rusks while enjoying the morning sunrise view- such amaze.

It rally does have a good contrast of the old with the new. This is mainly because of the use of simple materials that does well with the old thatch and the nature.

Imagine waking up to see the perfect view of Durban landscape, having that said breakfast, getting ready for work and again seeing the beautiful piece of art (and science) while walking out to the car to drive away and stopping to see passerbys looking at your house and say 'hot dang' followed by a barrage of photo snaps for them to keep so that one day they can ask their architect to do the same thing. Well the Wright family did the 'right' thing.

Hello all

Hope all of you are well and getting used to the winter season now. Apart from the voting that happened two days ago, there was not much news around.

I was assigned to draw a quaint house and design for a renovation. Here are the drawings, I have not finished them yet.

A bit unprofessional, but that portrays the horrible rainy weather we've been having.

 Bonsoir madame et monsieur,

This week has probably been the most jumbled up week of this year. With holidays right in the middle of the week, people get confused if they should even work or not. Well good news is that voting is happening soon (next week?) so people can get another day off in the middle of the week, again.

For this Friday I posted a small renovation project(which required a lot of drawing) of an attic room and an additional bathroom. The work sounds small, but it took a while to finish.

Here you go:

Oh and I did not do the energy calculation (my boss did and he taught me how).

Revit

I did not manage to post last week but hence, here's this week's post.

This project was done on revit and it's the same house I did the model on(check the last blog). My boss designed the renovation and I just put pen to paper.

Bonjour

Sooo this morning my brother and I bade farewell to my mom who came over from my home country for my brother's graduation and stayed here for about three weeks.It was really sad but after many farewells in the past years, I didn't let myself cry. Even though it is true that the ones who is left behind are the one who are hurt the most.

Even though it was really sad and my apartment feels empty,to which my mom's scent still resides, I got used to it, now everything is back to normal, doing work, hanging out with friends and et cetera.

Back to reality, this week was all about cleaning up the mess I made after the model last week,my boss gave me another model to make(yay) and I had to do a side quest, in which I had to sketch, photoshop and edit a SA map history lesson that shows settlement throughout the years.
